Punjab govt also reduces school timings across the province due to rising temperatures
**Punjab Government Announces Summer Vacation and Adjusted School Timings Amid Heatwave**
LAHORE: On Friday, the Punjab government announced the annual summer vacations for public and private schools across the province. According to the official notification, the summer break will be observed from June 1 to August 14.
In addition to the summer vacation announcement, the government has also implemented reduced school timings due to the intense temperatures currently affecting multiple cities across the country. From Monday to Thursday, schools will operate from 7:00 AM to 11:30 AM, while on Fridays, they will open at 7:00 AM and close at 10:30 AM.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted that due to high pressure in the upper atmosphere, heatwave conditions are expected to develop over most parts of the country, particularly in Punjab and Sindh, starting from May 21. The PMD warned that these conditions could intensify into a severe heatwave from May 23 to May 27.
As the province braces for this extreme weather, the Punjab government’s decision to adjust school schedules aims to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff during this period.
